Gary Bhattal

Gary enjoys working on complex files that involve multiple assets held under corporations and trusts. His experience also consists of drafting complex prenuptial, cohabitational and separation agreements.

Prior to joining Crossroads Law, Gary articled at a family law firm, where he worked on complex high-net worth matrimonial divorces. His experience in family law includes divorce, custody, child support, spousal support, parenting, emergency protection orders and division of matrimonial property. His knowledge of family law is extensive given that he stays up to date with the latest Alberta Court of Appeal and Court of Queen’s bench reported decisions.

Gary strives to provide his clients with meaningful and honest advice. He believes it is the lawyer's job to provide the roadmap and direction, while the client decides what route to take. He is passionate about providing efficient resolutions for individuals and couples who are facing a difficult time in their lives. He is aware that each case is different and should be approached on its own merit.

Gary’s practice of family law is centered around providing efficient legal services for his clients and guiding them through every step of their matter. He is also an effective litigator who aims to achieve the best outcome for his clients. He has represented clients in both Alberta Provincial Court and the Court of Queen's Bench.

Before law school, Gary attended the University of Calgary where he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Energy Economics with a minor in Business. He then attended law school at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. During Law School, Gary was a semi-finalist in the annual Leicester University Law Society Mooting Competition. He also ranked highly in the 2017 Norton Rose Fulbright Contract Law Competition.

When he is not in the office, you can find Gary in the boxing gym. He has also coached boxing at 9Round kickboxing studio. Gary is an avid traveller who enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Gary is fluent in English, Punjabi and Hindi and has provided legal services for clients from various backgrounds and cultures.
