Coach My Case Is Evolving With Gratitude for What We’ve Built and Excitement for What’s Next

After four incredible years, Coach My Case is closing its doors…sort of.

When we opened in 2021, our goal was to improve access to quality legal coaching by offering a more affordable, empowering alternative for people navigating the family law system on their own. Legal coaching had proven to be an effective way to support self-represented litigants, yet too few people knew it existed. Coach My Case emerged as a response to that gap, allowing us to intentionally raise awareness and offer our clients an option that truly met them where they were.

For our founder, Marcus Sixta, and CEO, Serey Sinn, this work has always been deeply meaningful. Having met while working in the charitable sector, they were united by shared values and a belief in serving their community. Coupled with Marcus’s background as a social worker and experience practicing family law, the access-to-justice crisis became impossible to ignore. He saw firsthand how overwhelming the legal system could be and how traditional services often failed the people they were meant to serve. Under Marcus and Serey’s leadership, Coach My Case was intentionally shaped around those realities, guided by empathy, innovation, and a commitment to meaningful access.

Over the years, that vision translated into real impact. Being trusted by thousands of clients during some of the most emotional and vulnerable moments in their family lives was both an honour and a responsibility we never took lightly. And the impact of that trust was felt throughout our work.

We recall, in the early days, a woman came to us after leaving a violent home situation. The thought of standing in a courtroom and facing her former partner was crippling. With coaching, we helped her prepare, walking through possible scenarios and how to address the court. When the day came, she was successful in securing child support for her daughter.

After the hearing, she called us in tears, not just because of the outcome, but because of what the experience represented. For the first time, she felt she had her voice back. She described it as a therapeutic moment, allowing her to reclaim her power and stand up for herself and her child.

Another client was a father whose parenting time had been limited to short, supervised visits each week following substance use concerns years earlier. Since then, he had done the hard work, committing to counselling, completing addictions treatment, maintaining stable employment, and providing clean drug and alcohol testing. Still, efforts to negotiate increased parenting time were unsuccessful.

With our support, he was able to secure unsupervised parenting time every other Saturday, exactly what he had hoped for as he worked to rebuild trust and strengthen his relationship with his child.

Those moments have defined our work and are exactly why this next step matters.

As technology continues to evolve — particularly with the rapid growth of AI — new opportunities are emerging to reach more people, reduce barriers, and create an even greater impact. To do that well, we need to evolve too.

While Coach My Case is winding down its current practice, this is not an ending. It is a transition, and behind the scenes we are working toward a new, technology-driven platform designed to expand access and serve more people.

In the meantime, our commitment to legal coaching remains unchanged. The same high-quality legal coaching services continue to be available through our sister company, Crossroads Law, ensuring continuity of care and support for those who need it.

We are deeply grateful to our clients, our community, and everyone who placed their trust in us along the way. We look forward to serving you again soon.
